RECYCLING REQUIRED NJ  STATE LAW And SECAUCUS TOWN CODE, CHAPTER 91
VIOLATORS ARE SUBJECT TO SUMMONS AND FINES.
PLEASE ADHERE TO LISTED RECYCLING RESTRICTIONS.

ALLOWED

  • Clean food and beverage containers
  • Clean aluminum cans, foil and bi-metal (tin) cans
  • Clean plastic milk, soda, detergent and food containers
  • Cardboard (please flatten boxes)
  • Newspaper (tied or in paper bags)
  • Computer paper, copy paper, stationary, cereal boxes (tied or in  paper bags--separate from newspapers)
  • Junk mail, catalogues, phone books and magazines (use barrel marked for junk mail)
  • Caps and lids (leave on containers)

NOT ALLOWED

  • Mirrors, window glass, shower doors, light bulbs, tubes, computer monitors, picture frames, ornamental glass objects, dishes etc.
  • All other metal objects, such as computers, batteries, coat hangers, bed frames, furniture.
  • All other plastic containers,  packing foam, bubble wrap or noodles
  • Plastic bags (empty the bags and use barrel provided for their disposal)
  • Loose papers, soiled paper towels, napkins and  tissues
  • Plastic coated paper items
  • Plastic products co-mingled with glass, plastic and metal items
  • FOOD /GARBAGE

GARBAGE AND TRASH
Please review page 23, section 5:16, of the Resident Handbook.
Garbage must be placed inside plastic bags, tied, and deposited inside dumpsters.
Remember that it is illegal to include newspapers, glass containers, cans, cardboard boxes of any size and paper of any type (except plastic coated paper or paper soiled with food) in your household trash. These must be taken to a recycling site.

Bulky Trash Collection by the Town of Secaucus Department of Public Works at 201-330-2080.
For pick-up of large items such as  Appliances,  Televisions, Computers, Furniture, Track lighting, Blinds, Shelving, Doors, Carpeting, Deck furniture, etc, call:

The Town will collect items too large to be included with regular household garbage.

METAL ITEMS ARE PICKED UP ON THURSDAYS!

The Town of Secaucus now has a computerized  environmental hotline 201-319-9390 which will allow residents to access information on recycling schedules and other environmental topics at the touch of a button. This hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The following materials may not be left at the dumpster site or recycle stations.
PAINTS / CHEMICALS
No paints
of any kind whatsoever, in any type of container are allowed to be placed in any dumpster or recycle station.  This includes ALL chemicals, wallpaper glue, adhesives, strippers, cleaners, oils or stains used in conjunction with floor, sheetrock, restoration or installation. 
Please keep these items in your home until you contact the Secaucus Department of Public Works HOTLINE at 201-319-9390   for correct procedure for disposing of these items
